PROCESS article – Compressed Air Efficiency

Bitkom Policy Pitch with SPD Olaf Scholz and Anja Vedder

IoT+ Network session
Richard Buessow at IoT+ Coffee Break Artificial intelligence
IoT+ was inviting for a "Coffee Break" and we followed promptly. The discussion was organized under the banner Artificial Intelligence and all invited guests broad their particular AI story to the table. Steffen Wittkamp - Senior Consultant Data Science from team neusta Unternehmensgruppe spoke about explainable AI and the need for gaining insights from data that can be communicated to everyone: "Insights from data for everyone".
From another perspective spoke Sigrid Rögner - Head of Business Innovation & Ecosystem from IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH. Sigrid stressed the need to discuss critically the connection of SMEs and AI. We must critically access the need for AI systems in small to middle sized entreprises since cost efficiency is paramount especially for smaller companies in Germany and Europe. Under the title: "AI and the cooperation of medium-sized companies and startups - hype or real vision of the future?" Sigrid shed light to an important factor when discussing AI for entreprises.
Lastly, our founder Richard Büssow brought a recent use case of AI for machine and process monitoring from Industrial Analytics IA GmbH to the table and explained the human factor in a technological solution. Richard highlighted that we have to overcome the idea to build technology for technologies sake. Technology should be the tool to arrive at a more sustainable and healthy way we produce and consume. The use case of AI for an air blower monitoring in the waste water treatment plant of the Berlin utility "Berliner Wasserbetriebe" showed the need to develop AI that really empowers and relieves the user from repetitive work. The goal should be the autonomous plant in which staff can focus on improving processes and production rather than being stuck with repetitive tasks.
